Marc Jacobs + Maripol Bracelet

Marc Jacobs + Maripol Bracelet

Last time I walked into a Marc Jacobs store I was very excited to see their new line of colorful, plastic and rubber jewelry created in collaboration with Maripol, the designer who was responsible for most Madonna’s jewelry in the mid 80′s  and art director of everyone’s favorite brand at the time: Fiorucci. The 80′s inspired collection, perfect for the upcoming Summer, made me feel instantly hotter as I pictured myself with a neon colored dress and a perfect tan. Back to reality, in store, the metallic bubble wrap envelopes looked very attractive, each had a sticker with a printed Polaroid photo to help identify products and colors. It all made perfect sense if you knew Maripol is also an artist photographer, who uses Polaroid in her art work, but the excessive packaging seemed wasteful in times of global warming.
